what I do and don’t believe

This is a tough subject for me; I was raised LDS/Mormon.  There are things that I really don’t understand:

  • The Fall and the need for an Atonement
  • The Sacrament or Eucharist
  • The Divinity of Christ
  • Monotheism
  • The Book of Mormon
  • The Second Coming
  • The Trinity
I Don't Get It!

I Don’t Get It!

There are things I don’t believe in:

  • The Old Testament
  • Miracles of any variety; including the Virgin Birth
  • Top-down management (a failed organizational structure that is seriously flawed)
  • Contemporary church services and rituals (they are largely a waste of time)
  • The World of Wisdom (it is seriously dated and of little contemporary value)
  • The minutia and effluvia of religious doctrine

There are things I do believe in:

  • The wonderful of example of Christ, the rebel and humanitarian
  • Eternal progression (if there is an eternity for humanity) toward deification
  • Eternal value of creativity
  • A Creating rather than a Creation
  • Need for all religions to acknowledge and repent for past sins
  • Everything is evolving, nothing is static
  • Everyone is truly equal (irregardless of sex, sexual preference, race, religion, etc.)
  • Science and technology are progressing faster than most religions can cope
  • An evolution toward leaderless organizations
  • The living are much more important than the dead
  • An enhanced “Golden Rule”:  Do unto others much more than you would have them do unto you.”
